Syria

Another Year

The Arab Spring began on December 18, 2010. This was a time of riots and protests against the cruel governments in the Arab countries located in the Middle East. The Arab countries include Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Syria, and more. One of the most strongly affected countries was Syria.
Sadly, this month marks the third year that Syrian civilians have been fighting against Bashar Al-Assad. Bashar's forces have now killed up 146,000 civilians and at least a million people are displaced. People now are struggling more for their lives than actually change in the government. The cities there have been destroyed. Homes of thousands of innocent people gone. There are now 2 million refugees dispersed in the neighboring countries.
Syria before (left) and after (right)
Children our ages there are loosing their parents, and more of them are dying. Every day we should be thankful and say "Alhamdulillah" that we have a roof over our heads and parent(s) that we get to see every day. We should make dua for all the people there and hope the blood shed will come to an end with a change in the government.

Be generous and make donations to help the refugees overcome their daily struggles.

Charity

What is Charity?

Narrated by 'Aadi ibn Hatim, may Allah be pleased with him, that: I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying:
"Save yourself from Hell-fire even by giving half a date-fruit in charity,
if you cannot find any then say a good word." -Muslim
Under the Five Pillars of Islam one thing we have to preform is Zakah. Zakah is the one obligatory form of charity that must be preformed in a Muslims' life time whether it is during Ramadan and Eid.
Yet, this isn't the only form of charity people can preform. Many people may think that they're too young to give charity but this is
FALSE!
Anyone can give charity, young or old. Charity is defined as any voluntary action providing support, typically financially, to those in need. Charity can be anything from donating $1,000,000 for the Red Cross to a simple word of encouragement or a smile. Rather than saying that you can't give charity because you are "too young" or "don't have any money to give", give your time, or even a simple good word, back to your community.

Informative lesson on charity in the video below!

Who are we?

WE ARE THE WIHI WOLVES!
"The WIHI Muslim Student Association strives to portray a positive Islamic image while bringing awareness to the high school community and beyond."

This is Washtenaw International High School's MSA's MIST blog. Washtenaw International High School is a small school located in Ypsilanti, Michigan with half of the school's population being Muslim students. When our school first started up three years ago there weren't any clubs until the Muslim students came together and set up our MSA. Through out the few years of our school being open we participated and created many events that gave back to our community and increased the awareness of the Muslim community.

To register for the Wolve's MIST team visit MIST's National website http://www.getmistified.com/ or the MIST Regional http://getmistified.com/detroit/. For more information...

"   Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgement is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad."  " - At-Tabarani
